I can barely believe this is the very last Monday in January -can you?! I already feel confused by how quickly the year is passing… heck, it’s only 53 days until Spring! (That would be March 20th if you don’t want to do the counting.) Or if you’d like something more immediate to look forward to enjoying -how about Super Bowl 49 Sunday, February 1st? If you’re not a fan of the New England Patriots or Seattle Seahawks -no worries. There’s also plenty of snacking, clever advertisements, and a showstopper of a half-time show you can plan on enjoying -like me! Or maybe you’re going to be a book reading rebel and not watch at all? So then you’ll be wanting to see some of the titles that have recently been added to The Reading Room:

The Paris Winter by Imogen Roberston
The Witch Must Burn by Danielle Paige
One Plus One by Jojo Moyes
Mr. Miracle by Debbie Macomber
The Secret Life of Violet Grant by Beatriz Williams

Did everyone have a holly, jolly Christmas time? Were Santa and his elves good to you all? Did you watch for the Big Guy’s arrival on the NORAD Santa tracker? Me too! Did you know how it that all got started? Why not listen to Col. Harry Shoup’s children talk about their memories as well as read the story on NPR’s website. Such a sweet story -and I’m so glad the Colonel was a good sport! And now we can all focus on New Year’s Resolutions… I think one of my resolutions will be to read more (tee hee!) and if you want to join me in the attempt, why not start with one of these:

Is everyone ready for Christmas this year? Or are you more like me -“What? Christmas?! Already?!” (That would be the sign of someone not being prepared, even thought it’s always the same time every year and it’s clearly marked on every calendar you see.) I confess. I missed the whole thing. I only know the American Music Awards was on last night because I saw comments on how well (or poorly) people were dressed…  oh, and some people won awards for being musicians too! Instead I was multitasking -reading and watching the very best kind of schmaltzy television (Christmas movies!) And I would do the same thing all over again!

Don’t forget -we’ll be closed on Thursday for Thanksgiving but that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t stop in before or after to pick up some new books! Maybe something that’s recently been added to The Reading Room?

Summer of the Dead by Julia Keller
Five Days Left by Julie Lawson Timmer
Lost Cat by Wendy McNaughton

You can also check out new books while visiting family -near or far. Just take a look at all the ebooks and audio books you can download on the go! Maybe you want to look over our Staff Picks or enjoy something seasonal from our Christmas Collection? So many choices! Enjoy!!

And then bright and early Monday morning -it’s back? It just seems so soon… At least it makes for good reading weather! Now the question becomes, “If I’m snowed in, do I have enough to read until someone digs out my front door?” Well don’t you worry! There are some newly added titles to The Reading Room for you to check out:

Shadow and Bone by Leigh Bardugo
Invisible City by Julia Dahl
President Me by Adam Carolla
A Quilt for Christmas by Sandra Dallas
In the Kingdom of Ice by Hampton Sides
