Fall, with its shorter days and slower pace, is the ideal time to get those creative juices flowing and make something! Handiwork has been booming the past couple of years – maybe as an antidote to the technology that has taken over our lives, maybe as a way to slow down and focus on something, perhaps just to make something beautiful. Me, I’m a knitter. In this colder weather our bodies start to crave warmth and comfort and working with yarn satisfies those yearnings. In fact, you could say that I’m a wee bit obsessed! Others may sew, cook, bead, embroider, the possibilities are endless, and craft books provide oodles of inspiration. A few that I can’t wait to get my hands are
Alabama Stitch Book by Natalie Chanin – she works with t-shirt knits and embroidery to create funky, lovely items –
Mason-Dixon Knitting Outside the Lines – Kay Gardiner and Ann Shayne team up again for new projects and anecdotes – and a bread baking book that I’ve been reading about all over the Internet –
Artisan Bread in Five Minutes a Day by Jeff Hertzberg. So grab your needles, glue gun or apron and get busy!
