WEEKLY MOVIE REVIEW: I finally watched Headhunters, a Norwegian film from 2011 that’s been on my list for a while. Based on a book by bestselling author Jo Nesbo, it’s about Roger, a corporate headhunter who steals art on the side to support his extravagant lifestyle. Not particularly likeable, Roger is solely interested in status and money and he’s incredibly insecure about his short stature and his beautiful Nordic wife. When he tries to recruit Clas, a former elite soldier, for a job, he discovers that Clas owns a valuable Rubens, a painting whose value would set him up for life. So he decides to steal it. Afterwards, however, things begin to go awry: first he finds that his wife is sleeping with Clas and then Clas begins to hunt him down to try to kill him. Which is where this movie starts to become a rush of violence and outrageous plot twists and Roger has to fight for his survival…and where we may actually start to root for Roger…Oh and you may recognize a familiar face: Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, better known as Jaime Lannister, stars as the scary killer Clas.
