imagesIs anyone else a Masterpiece Theatre junkie? Do you look forward to Sunday nights with the cast of Downton Abbey and Inspector Lewis? I had been enjoying three hours of bliss on Sunday nights – from Call the Midwife to Selfridge to the Bletchley Circle and I was momentarily bereft this last Sunday when there were ONLY REPEATS and FILLER, but then I discovered that there is a new series starting next Sunday – The Escape Artist starring David Tennant. It’s only one show, but it should fill the void. In fact, there is a whole new list of Masterpiece Mystery productions coming our way this year that sound so good (yes, there’s a new Inspector Lewis season!)! In the meantime, if you haven’t been obsessively watching the above series, we have them here at the library – a Masterpiece Summer awaits.

WEEKLY MOVIE REVIEW:  My fellow Indie Int’l Film Series participants and I watched Asghar Farhadi’s The Past last week and I was mesmerized. A detailed domestic drama that documents the hold that the past has on us, it was beautifully acted with no easy answers. Farhadi’s highly acclaimed A Separation is a must-see as well!
